Dr Daya Shanker Pandey obtained his Graduation and Post-graduation in Geology from Science College, Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He obtained Doctorate Degree from B.H.U. in the field of Hydrogeology and Ground Water Exploration. Dr. Pandey has versatile experience of working more than 37 years on various aspects of Ground Water in different hydrogeological terrains in India. He has received training on various facets of Ground Water modelling and Integrated Water Management from International Institute for land reclamation and Improvement, Delft, Netherland and R.G.I. C.G.W.B. in India.
Dr. Pandey joined Central Ground Water Board in the year 1975 and served under various capacities in different parts of India and is presently posted as Scientist-D in Northern Region, Lucknow. He has authored number of departmental reports including State Hydrogeological Reports of Uttar Pradesh and has more than 100 number of technical papers to his credit published in nationally and internationally acclaimed journals on water and environment. He has worked extensively for development and management of ground water in arsenic affected areas of Uttar Pradesh and also presented a paper in International Indo- German Workshop at N.G.R.I. Hyderabad. He has been associated with several collaborative studies with G.S.I. and C.P.C.B., especially on Arsenic and Chromium in ground water.
Dr. Pandey is a member of several state level technical committees of Uttar Pradesh for planning and implementation of various schemes on ground water.
Apart from that he has worked for more than 6 years for U.N.D.P. assisted (Kasai- Swarnrekha Project) where he specially worked for hard rock terrain for tribals of Bihar (Jharkhand), Bengal and Orissa. He has also worked extensively for managing ground water pollution in several parts of India and its mitigation.
