Kumari S. Neelacantan, Translated by Sudhamathy Subramanian
Kumari S.Neelacantan, who has a master’s degree in Journalism and Communication, in addition to a master’s degree in Physics, is now a senior announcer in All India Radio, Chennai. Besides his role as a public broadcaster in the radio, he regularly contributes to leading newspapers and magazines in Tamil through his articles on diverse topics including society and general affairs. His flair for writing has found expression in the form of his short stories and poems, which have had profound and deep impact upon his readers.
One of his short story was featured in an anthology of Tamil short stories published by the Sahitya Akademi. Recently, he had also translated the Sahitya Akademi award-winning collection of Odia short stories “The Nail and Other stories” into Tamil, which has been published by the Sahitya Akademi. He has also presented many of his poems and short stories in various events conducted by Sahitya Akademi.
He has written and produced hundreds of radio documentaries which have been broadcasted in various stations including stations in New Delhi and abroad.
His writings have been made into documentary short films for the Mysore University. Songs penned by him have been composed and played in the radio and won the hearts of many listeners. He has also penned poems in Hindi.
