Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh Pal"People fight with each other to achieve something. But old couples seem to fight without any reason and practically for nothing. A husband usually does not stand a chance to withstand the storm whipped up by his wife’s superior lung power and quick wit. He survives it by not taking her onslaught seriously. Due to their contradictory approach, a series of hilarious situations emerge. This anthology of light hearted short stories is surprisingly different from the rollercoaster type 'compulsivly page turne'r stories of the Author’s other books."
Amit Kumar Goswami
With two published books behind him, Veteran Wing Commander Amit Kumar Goswami may not need any new introduction. He has gifted to readers more than two dozens of heart-thumping adventure stories from his life in the military service. This time his bohemian self has wandered off to explore newer a vista. Being closeted with his better-half at home in the current Pandemic situation, he has discovered fun, behind the closed doors, in the lives of perpetually bickering old couples. Possibly many other couples will be able to closely relate to similar comic situations that occur at their own homes. They do not discuss such routine skirmishes with their spouses in public. They accept these as a part of life in stoic manner. Author Goswami has dragged these private situations out in the open, from the wrap of privacy. Thus he has brought out one hilarious situation after another. One retired man, who cannot talk back to his wife, finds effective release of his pent up anger by killing mosquitoes. The reason for the ultimate failure of a husband to teach his wife how to drive a car, originates from his deep love for his car as well as for his wife. He fights a losing battle to control his temper, as his wife inflicts damage to his car in the process of learning.
He also has an understanding and affectionate approach to his younger generations. He tries to analyse their radical approach to marriage and divorce. He identifies the basic reason for their lack of quality time on account of taxing workload of challenging careers. He has gently tried to offer some feasible solutions to their issues with the hope of making them happier in life. His sensitive description of the tender feelings between a father and his daughter at the time of her departure to her husband’s home, may wet the eye lashes of everyone who have undergone this sweet-sour experience of life.
Overall this is an entertaining book with some serious thoughts wrapped in humour.
