BLEEDING TEARS ballads and poetry

Author Name: Roymans | Format: Paperback | Genre : Poetry | Other Details
For the first time in the history of Indo-Anglican literature, Bleeding Tears is bringing to readers ballads and poems in English written by a poet of Indian origin under one single umbrella. Abandoning himself to sharp pangs of emotions, author Roymans has turned so-called poetic norms upside down with the ballads that are forever a part of his life. The author’s early days as a guitarist with a band at the Gottingen Park in Canada’s east coast, its every day squalor, and the pursuit for life despite its many trials are the cornerstone of this unique compilation. From the slums of Gottingen and street music to shared strivings in the sleazy ghetto of Halifax, Roymans’ ballads are a carefully crafted saga of human aspirations; of the desperate zeal to turn life around; of the ‘have-beens’ and ‘have-nots’ who remained nameless, faceless in Gottingen nights. Clutching his roots, he kept returning to his family back home in "Even when you’re not in mind" and at the same time remembered the hapless woman who worked the dark street-corners for a living in Ghetto of Gottingen. The tears that he shed for an unheard sweep of humanity in the title ballad "Bleeding Tears" touch off myriad emotions that humanity so desperately tries to control. This book sits on the fragile line between all that should have been and everything that could easily be.

Roymans

When Roymans was the lead guitarist of the ‘Night Hawk’ band at the Green Grove Pub at Halifax in Canada in 1983, he started writing lyrics to earn and feed his family. As a master degree student, music had not only become a bread-earner for him but also a source of inspiration to his struggling life. Popular balladian lyrics for titles like 'Bleeding Tears' and 'Even when you are not in my mind' had flagged his appearance as a lyricist. These lyrics later transcended into abstract poetic expressionism, a literary sanctuary from where he expressed his inner-most feelings. From then for several decades thereafter, his life found vent in his music and poetry, and when blended with his ideologies, touched off rare romanticism that still continues to mark his existence. His poetry, however, remained veiled, locked in his Moleskin books for years. Only over the past few years, his poems began to surface on several online fora under his nom-de-plume Michel Angelo. Roymans was born and raised in Kolkata, migrated to Europe in 1986. His profile is intensely binary. On the one hand, he is a lyricist, poet and a visual artist and, on the other, he holds doctoral degrees in Engineering and Marketing Management from U.K. and a Masters degree in Fine Arts from the U.S.A. In these two diametrically opposed pursuits, Roymans has flourished with equal felicity.
