The contributors have put in sincere efforts to explain the critical or historical theory which their articles are couched in. While the first few articles offer critical analyses of writings by Adivasi and non-Adivasi writers, inadequate representation of writings by Adivasi writers and activists in university syllabi across Kerala, issues of publication, reception and the importance of translation, comparative analysis of novels by Adivasi and indigenous writers, ethics of reading Adivasi literature, case study of the writings of an independent researcher of Adivasi history, ecocritical analysis of the poems of a poet largely belonging to the oral tradition, the last two articles are empirical observations of activists, who are actively involved in the cultural sphere of the Adivasis in India and outside, on the need for inter-tribal councils and the importance of orality. The book aims to facilitate academicians, scholars, researchers and students by providing fresh and unexplored critical perspectives on subjects related to contemporary Adivasi writings and culture in India.

Dr. Rajshree Trivedi
Dr.Rajshree Trivedi is Associate Professor at the Dept. of English, M. N. Women’s College, Mumbai. She was the Managing Editor of Research Horizons, an international journal with impact factor, and is, currently on the review panel and Advisory Boards of two international, multidisciplinary journals. Deviance, Conformity and Social Control in James Reaney’s Oeuvres and Re-imagining the Text: The English Studies and Digital Humanities are her recently published books. Her areas of interest are Metaphors in Cognitive Linguistics, Ecopsychology and Eco-humanities. Her paper “Nature Metaphors in Seamus Heaney’s Human Chain’’ was selected at The 2014 Stockholm Metaphor Festival, Stockholm University, Sweden (UGC funded). She has translated five books into English. She was inolved with the e-PG Pathshala course( UGC/MHRD ) on “Sociology of Indian Diaspora.” She is Research Guide for SJJT University, Rajasthan and SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. A Member of the Board of Studies of English, Dr. Trivedi has published many papers in national and international journals. A poet, short story writer and translator, her works have been published in Muse India, Vahi, Indian Literature, The Speaking Tree and other magazines. She is the recipient of the “Outstanding Poet of the Year” award at the prestigious Rabindranath Tagore International Poetry Contest.
Dr. Rupalee Burke
Dr. Rupalee Burke is Associate Professor and Head, Dept. of English at Shree Sahajanand Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, Ahmedabad. She has contributed to the People’s Linguistic Survey of India, led by Prof. Ganesh Devy, as writer and Translation-Coordinator of its Gujarat volume and its English version respectively. Her research articles have been published in various books and journals. She is a writer, reviewer, critic and active translator, and has many publications of translation including Dalit literature of Gujarat into English, Gujarati and Hindi to her credit. She was Member-Jury of Sahitya Akademi, Delhi, for the translation prize in Gujarati in 2011. Her English, Hindi and Gujarati translations of oral literature and contemporary poetry by Adivasis and Nomadic communities of Gujarat in Rathwi, Dehwali, Chaudhary-bhili Kunkana and Panchmahali-Bhili languages and the north-east have appeared in Indian Literature, Cordite Poetry Review, Asymptote, Yapanchitra, Lakhara and others. She has translated Girish Karnad’s Tale – danda and Narayan Desai’s Ekadash Vrata: The Fount of Gandhiji’s Strength. She is on the Editorial / Advisory Boards of : Research Horizons, an international multidisciplinary journal; Shabdasar, a Gujarati literary journal; and Adilok, a journal devoted to the cultural universe of Adivasis. She is the co-editor of Vahi, a multilingual journal of poetry. Her translations of the Quebec Declaration in Gujarati and Hindi have been published on the PEN International website.
