P K Sasidharan

P K Sasidharan is the former Professor and Head, Department of Medicine, Govternment Medical College Kozhikode, Kerala. Dr. Sasidharan completed his MBBS from Calicut University, securing gold medal for highest marks in Medicine, and had MD from PGIMER Chandigarh. His career spanning over three decades has been recognized with several awards. These are: Calicut Medical College Alumni Oration, G. K. Warrier Memorial Oration, National Hypertension Oration, 'Netaji Oration', Fellowships of Indian College of Physicians and of International Medical Science Academy.

He has to his credit 72 publications in journals including two Landmark studies on Vitamin D deficiency and SLE. He has authored 'Doctor's Pocket Companion' published by Jaypee Brothers, and a 'Handbook on Health Care of the Elderly', chapters for textbooks of Medicine and Hematology, books on healthcare – 'Arogyam Janangalilekku' and 'Jeevithasailiyum Arogyasamrakshanavum'.

He is a health activist regularly writing articles and giving talks on healthcare issues, sustainable healthcare, and health economics.

He had also served as Chairman PG Board of Studies Kerala University of Health Sciences, Dean Faculty of Medicine, Calicut University, Director Malabar Cancer Center, Editorial Board member – Indian Journal of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, PhD Research Guide – Calicut University, Scientific Advisory committee Member – NIIH Mumbai, President, API Kerala Chapter and State President of the Kerala Government Medical College Teachers' Association.
