Ross wrote his first novel The MadGamon at the age of 19 which landed him his first job as a copywriter in J Walter
Thompson, in Mumbai. He continued writing short stories which were published by various newspapers and
magazines in India. He moved on to teaching in a school called The Scholar from which emanated the Memorex
Education System, which he wrote and which became a bestseller during 1972-1983 with over 500,000 copies sold.
His second book helped sell Bruce Lee’s movie, “Enter the Dragon”, a book titled Black Belt Karate – It can save your
life, it sold over 400,000 copies in the 70s. Ross continued writing books like, “Using the right words” and “Success
Systems”, based on his success story. He was widely written about during the 70s, 80s and 90s, the most prominent
being a Times of India article by Dina Vakil (retired editor), who wrote The gospel according to St Ross, which made
him well known in India. Another article in Business India, called Ross “A walking advertisement for Enterprise” – in a
lead story, talking about his various successes.
Ross launched India’s first mail order company in 1972, Ross Murarka Inc, an astounding success. He then went on to
start a large flower business, “Love is a Rose”, an advertising agency “Headstart”, (which later became “Headstart
Films”), in partnership with his friend. Together, they made “London Dreams” the movie, in 2010 featuring Salman
Khan and Ajay Devgan.
