One may also take the help with other more specific noninvasive techniques such as Echocardiography in the study of Echocardiographic quantification of cardiac chambers and great Vessels, Doppler echocardiography, three dimensional (3D) echocardiography, echocardiography in CAD and acute myocardial infarction, Stress echocardiography , Tissue Doppler echocardiography and Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).These tests have been discussed in their respective chapters mentioning their indications, methodology ,specificity and sensitivity. After the disease has been diagnosed ,the attending physician/cardiologist would like to treat the patient with one of the least invasive catheter based techniques such as Percutaneous coronary interventions (balloon angioplasty & stentoplasty), Artificial cardiac pacemaker therapy, Electrophysiological study & catheter management of cardiac arrhythmia, Peripheral vascular disease and Endovascular therapy, Percutaneous transcatheter management of valvular heart diseases and Percutaneous transcatheter management of congenital heart diseases. Their descriptions have been illustrated in their respective chapters. Specially designed chapter on “Robotic assisted cardiac vascular interventions” managing, ASD, VSD, MVP, Coronary artery disease and proatatic artery embolization for the treatment of BPH, have been introduced for cardiac fellows/cardiac surgeons/ cardiologists and postgraduates students of cardiovascular medicine. This manuscript in the present format and contents would act as a treasure house of knowledge and would be very useful to DNB.

Dr. K.C Verma MD, DCH, DM has a brilliant record of academic achievements and vast teaching experience. in the discipline of Medicine and cardiology. Dr. Verma completed his graduation (MBBS) from Medical College, Srinagar, Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from Punjabi University, Patiala and Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from Punjab University Chandigarh. He later showed keen interest towards Cardiovascular Medicine and obtained his Post-doctoral Degree in Cardiology (DM Cardiology). He attained different positions from lecturer to prof. in Medical College, Jammu, and worked with full dedication keeping in mind the basic objectives of patient care, disease investigation, and research. He had been teaching both undergraduate and post-graduate medical students in the Faculty of Medicine. At present Dr. Verma is fully pre-occupied with Private practice in the field of Cardiology at Jammu Heart Clinic & is very much interested in Clinical research work and non-invasive techniques in cardiology. He had published more than forty research studies in various reputed medical Indian journals and received due appreciation from different countries of the world. In recognition of his research work, he was awarded the prestigious Fellow of the International College of Physicians from the USA and Fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene London. He has also been conferred the prestigious Glory of India Award’ by India international friendship society. Best Citizen of India award by international publishing house New Delhi. Fellowship Award (FCSI) from the cardiological society of India with a Gold medal. He has also published twelve medical books on different aspects of cardiovascular medicine. Dr. K.C. Verma is a life member of the Cardiological Society of India.
