Parent Mediated Home Interventions (PMHI) is a model consisting of home-based activities to enhance the level of relationship, personal growth and system maintenance and change in families with children with specific learning disabilities. It aims to support parents with activities for improving cohesion, expressiveness, conflict, acceptance and caring, independence, active recreational orientation, organisation and control in families.
PMHI was designed with a focus on parenting and employs a strength-based approach to draw upon the fortes of the parents, children with specific learning disabilities and other family members.
Christina Francis
Christina Francis is a Psychology Educator and Counsellor at SFS Academy, Bengaluru. She is also a PhD scholar of Social Work at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru. She has formerly worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant with the Dept. of Sociology and Social Work; and as the Coordinator, Mentor and Trainer with the Centre for Academic and Professional Support (CAPS) at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (Hons) from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi, a Master’s Degree in Social Work (Clinical and Community Practice) and a Master of Philosophy Degree in Social Work from CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru. She has also qualified for the UGC NET in Social Work.
She has presented papers at conferences, published articles in various journals and authored a book titled, 'The Counselling Diaries'. She is also a world record holder for two mass participation records.
