The plant Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is a common member in the home gardens of almost all Indian houses. Being a plant with diverse adaptations it could find its place throughout the tropics. Not only this species, the allied members belonging to the genus ruled out the tropics and acquired the title “Queen of tropics”. The variations exhibited by different cultivars of the species are not much noted because the beauty of flower itself drawn the attention of viewers almost all time. Through this book I am trying to give basic understanding about the morphological and anatomical variations exhibited by some cultivars of the species H. rosa-sinesis.

Dr. Anju V. Jalaj is an academician who is specifically interested in biological research. She is a rank holder in PG and M Phil. and acquired Ph. D. degree from University of Kerala. Her area of specialization is plant morphology, molecular taxonomy, phytochemistry and pharmacology. She authored and co-authored several national and international publications in her areas. She was the associate director in 11 successful Guinness world Record Official Attempts. Also Dr. Anju is a recipient of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment research fellowship and meritorious awards. She worked as the subject expert in Oxygen educational solutions and Learn and Grow educational solutions. She was the former faculty member in T.I.M.E., All Saints’ College, Thiruvananthapuram and Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. At present Dr. Anju is working as Guest Lecturer in Department of Botany, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.
