Emotions and values; these two are the most important pillars in our lives. They make us the person we are. They trigger different thoughts; decide our reactions, responses and course of actions. This collection of mine; 'Story Spell', has 35 brilliant narratives, spun on similar lines. The book is filled with an amalgam of a variety of feelings; both positive and negative; happy and sad.
Although, all tales are figments of my imagination, they are still realistic. I've tried my best to keep them as authentic as possible, so that my readers can easily relate to the characters and their circumstances. Some will make you smile; others might see you shed a tear. Moreover, a few may give you food for thought. Nonetheless, I'm sure each one will touch your heart. Each story will hardly take some minutes to finish. But in those moments if you are able to live the life of the character along with him or her, then I've achieved my goal.

Shamim Merchant is to writing, as pen is to paper; synonymous and inseparable. She didn't think of it much when she actually began. It was more to pour out her heart, mainly not wanting to let emotions stay pent up inside. But being an avid reader, always made her imaginations travel far and wide.
And then this thought occurred, "Why not create my own world of dreams and fantasies?" She grew up listening to her grandma's stories, which in turn made her a storyteller too. Moreover, the best use of her passion for language and literature now drips in her writing.
