Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalThis book aims to help fresh practitioners, setting out on their exciting journey in the world of infrastructure regulation, in the fields of water and electricity. It is intended to help grow an appetite for the more advanced, and somewhat more exotic, items that are served by the regulator to the sector, to meet the long-term interests of policymakers, customers and service providers.
It will be a matter of immense satisfaction to the author if through this book, supported by work experience, training and discussions with industry experts, the reader is able to progress significantly down this road, over time.
Debasish Ghosh
Debasish has had a chequered educational background and professional career. After passing out from school as a Science student, he moved to Economics, influenced greatly by one of the leading economists of his time, Dr. Vijay Kelkar. Thereafter, he earned his MBA degree from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta majoring in Finance & Systems before entering the corporate world through CESC, working in an area that always fascinated him – infrastructure.
After getting a solid grounding in the commercial, corporate planning and MIS functions of the utility, he moved to Tata Consultancy Services to help develop their Utility Practice. Here, he worked across multiple geographies and domains, including water and electricity, and was exposed to different jurisdictions and their varied regulatory practices.
Subsequently, he moved to Saudi Arabia to work closely with the electricity and water sector, in various capacities. In many ways, this has been the culmination of a journey that started off with a young man’s dream and is now being fulfilled by helping to transform that to reality.
