Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalThis is Aarish Chhabra’s first book. Its focus is Chandigarh but it goes beyond the obsession with the city’s planning and architecture. Originally published by Unistar Publications (Mohali, 2017), the book dwells into an aspect that has hardly been explored before — how life is inside this city, and how people here view life that goes on outside. It is a collection of stories, social commentary and a lot of other things between the lines, all originally published in the author’s weekly column for the newspaper Hindustan Times, where he worked for eight years. An inside-outside view of Chandigarh, its culture and its people, the book romances and critiques the city in equal measure, treating it both as a subject and a metaphor.

Aarish Chhabra
First things first. This is a book about Chandigarh, but this is not a book about architecture. Its focus is Chandigarh but it goes beyond the obsession with the city’s planning and architecture. It dwells into an aspect that has hardly been explored before — how life is inside this city, and how people here view life outside. It is a collection of stories, social commentary, and a lot of other things between the lines, all originally published in Aarish Chhabra’s weekly column for the newspaper Hindustan Times, where he worked for eight years. An inside-outside view of Chandigarh, its culture and its people, the book romances and critiques the city in equal measure, treating it both as a subject and a metaphor. Aarish Chhabra has worked for The Indian Express and the BBC World Service, too, and currently teaches journalism at a university in Delhi-NCR.
