Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalThe Revolt of 1857 was the result of resentments of the Indians with the British rule. The cumulative effect of the British expansionist policies, Economic exploitation and administrative innovations over the years had adversely affected the position of all rulers of Indian States, Sepoys, Zamindars, Peasants, Traders, Pundits, and Maulvies etc. The simmering discontent exploded into a violent Revolt in 1857 which shook the British Empire in India to its every foundation. It changed the character of British rule, marking the end of the rule of East India Company and bringing the British India directly under the control of British Crown.
