WHY BJP WAS DEFEATED AND CPI(M) & CONGRESS WERE EVANESCED A STUDY OF 2021 WEST BENGAL ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS

Author Name: Dr. Keshab Chandra Mandal | Format: Paperback | Genre : History & Politics | Other Details

The present volume is the outcome of an in-depth study of contemporary politics in West Bengal. This book examines all major issues that came up in the 2021 Legislative Assembly elections in the State. This study investigates why despite having all strengths of money power, muscle power, and agency power, the BJP had to suffer a deplorable defeat to the Trinamool Congress Party in the Legislative Assembly elections of Bengal. The rise and fall of two erstwhile ruling parties - the Congress and the CPI(M) - have also been extensively explored. It is not that without any solid strength the Trinamool Congress Party came out with a stupendous victory for the third term. Hence, the performance of the TMC government has been examined. The Government schemes are mostly full of glitters, and many of those schemes are borrowed from the Union Government. Besides, the majority of outward development works were done with borrowed money. Additionally, the book extensively deals with the nature and extent of pre-poll, during-poll, and post-poll violence mostly committed by the Ruling Party. The role and functions of the Election Commission of India have been critically reviewed. Some concrete policy recommendations have been extended for the holistic development of the State. The students & researchers of Political Science and Public Administration will be benefited from it. It is a must-read book for the top policymakers as well as party top bosses of West Bengal.
