Wide-ranging, incisive and thought-provoking, these essays distil complex ideas from philosophy, sociology, anthropology, and theology into accessible language with an engaging and intimate style. They equip readers with the intellectual tools to navigate contemporary cultural and ideological challenges with clarity and confidence.
Structured into six distinct sections, this book explores:
1. AWAKENING – A sharper, more reciprocal understanding of the place of Hindus in the matrix of modern life.
2. CLARITY – A critical response to historical and contemporary misconceptions that have shaped discourse on Hindu society.
3. CULTURE & VALUES – A deep dive into the nature of cultural imagination with a focus on Hindu values and their place in Modernity.
4. COMMUNITY & SOCIETY – A fresh perspective on the nature of social structures that challenges inherited narratives while fostering self-awareness about ancestral Hindu frameworks.
5. PURVA PAKSHA – A rigorous critique of Western Modernity, Liberalism, and Progressivism from a traditional lens.
6. ENQUIRY – A recap of the dilemmas that Western Modernity has brought to our doorstep, and their possible intellectual resolution through a series of questions, answers and thought excursions.
Rooted in Dharmic thought and unafraid to challenge prevailing narratives, this book is an invitation to think critically, reclaim intellectual agency, and engage with the modern world from a position of insight & strength.

This book presents Tantrayukti, a classical Indian science of structured reasoning, textual analysis, and knowledge presentation, as a practical tool for modern research and academic writing across disciplines. Prof. M. Jayaraman explains how these ancient techniques sharpen thinking, help organize arguments, enhance coherence, and improve the clarity of thesis construction and scholarly communication.
Through illustrations and comparative insights from Sanskrit and ancient Tamil texts, the book demonstrates how Tantrayukti trains the mind to read deeply, reason precisely, and present knowledge systematically. It offers clear explanations of the yuktis supported by examples, charts, appendices, and extensive references, making it valuable not only for those engaged with Indian knowledge but for any researcher, teacher, or student seeking stronger methodological foundations.
“A welcome addition to research methodology, offering robust approaches rooted in India’s knowledge traditions.”
Dr B Mahadevan, IIM Bangalore
“It brings Eastern cognitive wisdom and Western academic rigor together, laying a strong foundation for holistic research.”
Padmashri Dr H R Nagendra, President, SVYASA Society
By bridging ancient cognitive tools with modern academic needs, this book invites readers to rethink how knowledge is analyzed, structured, and communicated.

In Bharatiya Manas Sastra, Prof. Mala Kapadia integrates ancient Indian wisdom with contemporary science to explore the foundations of human psychology and well-being. Drawing on the Vedas, Ayurveda, Yoga, and the Natya Shastra, she reframes psychology around the timeless inquiries: Who am I? and How can life be meaningful?
The book begins with the idea of involution—the movement from the unmanifest to the manifest—and examines how the individual relates to the Universe through the five elements, three gunas, and the purusharthas. It highlights Manas as the bridge between body and consciousness, essential for health, happiness, and sensory harmony. The heart, or Hridaya, is presented as the center of human existence, connecting ancient knowledge with modern research on resonance and psychosomatic wellness.
Prof. Kapadia redefines personality as Swabhava using Ayurvedic principles and explores Chitta through the Yamas and Niyamas of Yoga, offering practices to transform deep-rooted samskaras. She also links the aesthetics of the Natya Shastra to emotional intelligence, contrasting Western theories with Abhinavagupta’s insights on emotional transformation.
Tracing psychogenic ideas from the Atharva Veda to modern psychoneuroimmunology, the text presents a holistic view of health (Swasthya) and happiness (Sukha) grounded in Dharma and sustainable living. Aligned with India’s National Education Policy (2020), it proposes a transformative psychology curriculum. Shaped by Prof. Kapadia’s work at the Anaadi Foundation’s Centre for Indigenous Knowledge Systems, the book encourages a dharma of peace, health, and collective well-being—offering guidance for educators, leaders, and seekers alike.
