Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalAs-Saum (fasting) is one such compulsory Islamic duty about which every believer should have adequate knowledge in order to perform this important duty in a manner as desired by Allah and His Messengerﷺ.
The month of Ramadan is the month when the Quran was sent down as guidance. The month of Saum i.e. Ramadan comes with myriad benedictions. It is important to note that if any deed/act has countless bounties stored, it’s obviously going to be a hard-hitting job involving extreme patience.
With this backdrop, this humble effort has been divided into seven well-drawn chapters covering the genesis of fasting along with permissible and non-permissible acts during fasting. This is followed by a description of things that invalidate fasting and making up for the missed fasts. A full chapter has been devoted to Taraweeh Prayers followed by Rewards of Fasting. The inspiration behind compiling this booklet is to understand the rudimentary elements of As-Saum(fasting). We have a lot of literature available but little time to invest in reading. Thus, I have briefly tried to explain (strictly in the light of Quran & Shahih Hadith) the elements of As-Saum, to be relished by the readers particularly those avoiding thick books.
This book will prove beneficial to Muslims as well as to Non-Muslims In Shaa Allah, as for Non-Muslims these efforts will surely make it easy for them to understand one of the fundamentals of Islam i.e. fasting, its essence and prosperity.
