Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalDivided by Destiny is a captivating saga of despair and hope, set against the backdrop of British-ruled India. It is the story of a common man displaced by the Partition of India. It starts off with the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and gives an affected human’s perspective of the events leading to the Partition, one of the biggest human migrations in history. A story of betrayal and loyalty, depravity and humanity, unequalled cruelty and unexpected kindness, it is a displaced Indian’s longing for a lost past and a wish for a brighter future.
Nidhi Grover
Nidhi Grover is a student of Fountainhead School, Surat (India). She has a keen interest in the World Wars and other contemporary global conflicts. She originally wrote this book as part of a project in Grade 9 and 10. Three, out of four, of her grandparents had migrated to India, from what is now Pakistan, so stories of the Partition abounded at home. Realising that this generation, which actually witnessed this cataclysm, may not be around much longer to narrate first-hand stories, this book was almost like an effort to immortalise their bitter-sweet memories.
