Dr. Krishnanand

Dr.Krishnanand is the Founder and Director at TheGeoecologist, an online learning initiative. He graduated from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi, India and was awarded “Best student of the college across all disciplines” in 2009 and “Gold medal” in 2010. He completed his masters and Ph.D from Department of Geography, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi in Cold Desert Mountain Ecosystem assessing the Geodiversity and Human Response in Lahaul and Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. 

Dr.Krishnanand is a specialist in Cold Desert Mountain Ecosystem. His Ph.D work is the maiden attempt by any Indian to map Geodiversity in the Trans-Himalayan region. He is an avid field researcher and photographer with two Geographical Documentaries to his credit- Exploring Ladakh- A Geoecological Perspective and Spiti Valley Project. His areas of interest include Geoecology, Geotourism, Geodiversity, Geomorphosites, Fossil Park, Geoparks, Field Work and Documentary Making. 

He has presented and published his research at several international and national conferences and Journals. He was the only Indian and South-Asian to represent at the Geodiversity Training and Workshop Program, organized by International Association of Geomorphologists and Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland in August, 2019. He was awarded the scholarship as an Early Career Scientist by European Geosciences Union for Eurogeo-2021 conference held at Vienna, Austria. His work on Geoheritage and Geotourism in Trans-Himalaya was recognised at Oxford Geoheritage Virtual Conference (OXGVC), 25-29 MAY, 2020 

He successfully runs a YouTube Channel by the name of “TheGeoecologist”.
