Learning Through Solving INORGANIC CHEMISTRY

Author Name: Anup Gurung | Format: Paperback | Genre : Educational & Professional | Other Details

The Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) and CUET is an annual (February-March) common admission test for Master of Science (M.Sc.). To aid students in understanding the concepts of Inorganic Chemistry, I have designed a book that focuses on practicing JAM question papers. While students learn the concepts throughout the year, testing their knowledge through problem-solving is an essential aspect of the learning process.

The book emphasizes clarity of Inorganic chemistry concepts through problems rather than simply solving problems. It is futile to surf through chapters without testing the concepts learned. Therefore, thorough practice of solving question papers is mandatory. The book presents the learning of Inorganic Chemistry through solving JAM question papers.

The language used in the text is lucid and easy to understand, without any ambiguities. Answers are descriptive, and detailed mechanistic figures illustrate the illustrations.

The book uses both classical and Molecular Orbital approach to explain reaction mechanisms in solving problems, making it a valuable resource for mastering Inorganic Chemistry.

Anup Gurung

Dr. Anup Gurung was born on March 1, 1982 in Darjeeling. He graduated in BSc (Chemistry Honors) from St. Joseph’s College, Darjeeling in 2004 and completed Master’s degree specializing in Inorganic Chemistry from North Bengal University in 2006.

After his post-graduation, he joined as a Junior Research Fellow in the DST funded project in the Department of Chemistry, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology Under the supervision of Prof. Sanjay Dahal. He has an additional one year of experience in Multi step Synthetic reaction and characterization using different instrumentation techniques in the School of Chemistry, Hyderabad Central University under the supervision of Dr. Pradipta Kumar Panda, under UGC networking scheme.

He has also worked under Prof. Shastri in IIT Guwahati for one month along with his scholars.

He has also set up the first research lab in SMIT under Prof Sanjay Dahal completing two research projects funded by Directorate of Science and Technology and Defense Research and Development Organisation, Govt. of India. He obtained his PhD degree in the month of September 2017.

Apart from teaching his primary research interest is synthesis of polypyridyl appended porphyrin for biological applications, chemical sensors, and as templates for mesoporous materials. He has a number of research papers in peer reviewed journals in the field, excluding the ones based on this dissertation.

He has also fabricated the temperature controlled jacket called Heat eXchanger –Generation One (HX-1), which can keep human body at any desired temperature. He along with SRM University Sikkim, has filed patent in 2019 for the HX-1 jacket.

He has more than 15 years of Teaching experience in both under graduate and post graduate level.
