Kirti Satheesh Pawar is an eminent researcher in the field of organophosphorus pesticide poisoning (OPP). Her research on the antidote ‘Pralidoxime’ in the treatment of organophosphorus poisoning has been published in leading medical journal Lancet as well as acknowledged in British Medical Journal, and Cochrane Library. It has been included as a treatment guideline for organophosphate toxicosis in adults by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA).
An accomplished scientist and physician with over 20 years’ experience, Dr. Pawar believes that the ultimate goal of medical research should be ‘to reduce human suffering and improve quality of life’. (Most recently her breakthrough research, ‘oral curcumin with bioperine as an adjuvant therapy for the treatment of COVID-19: A randomised clinical trial’ is published in journal ‘frontiers in Pharmacology’).
She has successfully contributed to the management of over 2000 cases of critical poisoning without remuneration, and assisted the Government of Maharashtra (India) in the successful management of the 2017-poisoning crisis.
