Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh Pal"You don’t have to struggle in silence. You can be un-silent. You can live well with a mental health condition, as long as you open up to somebody about it, because it’s really important you share your experience with people so that you can get the help that you need"
-Demi Lovato
Speak is an anthology of poems on mental health that intends to make the society we live in, know that talking about mental health problems is okay. This attempt by 22 poets from across India is aimed at making their own struggles or of people around dealing with mental problems heard. While people may still not understand these journeys after reading their poems, they just want to make sure that people are aware of the fact that such journeys exist too.
Safeer Bhola
Safeer Bhola is an Economics (Honours) graduate, data researcher, para-counselor, and a heterodox poet. A core team member and community leader at Bullock Cart, Safeer hosts a weekly Experimental Poetry Open Mic. As a poet, he uses experiences and emotions that he observes or goes through to create poetry in Hindustani and English.
His work has appeared in various poetry anthologies, the Times of India NIE(student edition), national journals (such as the Indian Plastics Institute journal) and on blogs of NGO’s for mental health awareness. When he’s not overwhelming audiences and winning hearts with enthralling speeches, sessions and poetry performances, he’s most likely gorging onto burgers and rolls at a local food joint.
