Dr. Alok Ranjan
Dr. Alok Ranjan is a senior interventional cardiologist. He was a part of group of cardiologists who pioneered transradial interventions in India. His first book as a co-author on transradial interventions (“Patel’s Atlas on Transradial Interventions: The Basics”) had a simple yet elaborated description of transradial procedures. Thereafter he has written a series of handbooks on Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart diseases. These books have a detailed description of these diseases including Indian characteristics and studies. As these diseases are more prevalent in India the western books lack Indian flavor. He has mainly concentrated on diseases which are more prevalent in India and has highlighted Indian features in his books. After completing the series on Rheumatic heart disease, his next handbook was on Aortoarteritis and Ruptured Sinus of Valsalva. The present book on constrictive pericarditis and endomyocardial fibrosis once again deals with diseases more commonly seen in third world countries. In all these books he has maintained the same style of writing, simple and comprehensive description of diseases. This book is worth having on shelf for post graduates in medicine especially in cardiology.
