P L Gautam is the author of several books. In the year 1992, his first book Pracheen Bharat was published by Jain Prakashan, Jaipur. Now the ninth edition of this book is published as Pracheen Bharat Ka Itihas evem Sanskriti. It has been published by GK publication. Another book, Aadhunik Bharat, published by Hindi Granth Academy, Jaipur was published in 1998. This book was awarded by the Honourable Governor of Rajasthan in 1999. The eighth edition of this book is now published by Atlantic publisher, New Delhi.
P L Gautam began his career as a curator in the Government Museum, Alwar. At that time he wrote many articles on art and culture, published in Vishambhara magazine, in 1980.
In 1981, Gautam qualified for the Rajasthan State Services. For the best contribution to Rajasthan State, he was awarded Merit Award in 1989.
Along with his government job he wrote several articles on current issues, published in Rajasthan Patrika, Rashtriya Sahara, etc. As an expert, he participated in innumerable live discussions (paricharcha). These discussions were broadcast from All India Radio, Kota and Jaipur stations. He has written three chapters for higher studies booklets of Kota Open University.
His two novels –Shravya’s Affair and Saatvan Lok deal with topical issues –terrorism and the environment. He regularly writes columns and articles for various magazines and newspapers.
He is passionate about yoga and often provides directions on yoga and naturopathy. Fond of travelling, he has visited several countries and is presently busy writing his travelogue memoirs.
