Sooryakant and Arvind wrote Optimus over the course of three years. An idea which struck them while reading about CRISPR technology during the lockdown while they were still studying in 9th grade. Optimus was originally conceived as a movie script, which readers can discern from its format which retained the flow of a script, albeit with a unconventional blend of novel description. This is the first literary endeavor of these young authors, and they never imagined in the initial stages that their writing would see itself through to becoming a published book. The concept of Optimus has its roots in CRISPR and genome editing, but takes its own course as it delves deep into the applications and consequences of these technologies if it falls into the wrong hands.
