Dr Sujit Kumar Choudhary has been Associate Professor and Head at the Department of Sociology, Mahatma Gandhi Central University Bihar (MGCUB), Motihari, since September 2019. Before joining MGCUB, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ), Ranchi (India), for more than seven years and as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the School of Juridical and Social Sciences, Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) for three years. He obtained his MA, M.Phil. and PhD degrees in Sociology from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Most prestigious Iconic Educational Award 2020, Corona Karamveer Samman 2020, Swami Vivekananda Excellence Award 2019, Glory of India (Gold Medalist) 2018, Asian Admirable Achievers and Biography of the Year 2018, Bharat Vikas Award 2017, Jewel of India Award 2016, Shiksha Rattan Puruskar 2012 and Bharat Jyoti Award 2012 have been conferred on him for his meritorious services, outstanding performance and remarkable role in the field of education and best academic foundational work in sociology discipline. Not only that, he is also a recipient of the UGC—Research Award (2016-2018) in the field of Sociology. Dr Choudhary has published 24 research papers in international and national referred journals, 13 pieces in edited volumes and contributed more than 40 articles in reputed national and international magazines. He has three books to his credit of international repute, namely ‘Founding Fathers of Sociology: Comte, Marx, Spencer, Durkheim, Weber’, ‘Thinkers and Theories in Sociology: From Comte to Giddens (2006)’ and ‘NGOs, Education and Social Capital: A Micro Study of Tribals (2012)’. He presented 55 research papers at International and national conferences and seminars, including at Harvard University, Boston, USA. He also delivered many lectures on various academic fronts. His specialisation is in the field of Sociology of Education, Sociology of Development, Sociological Theories, and Sociology of Marginalized Groups.
