Thus Mr. Sahu Contested seven times against the president of India which was reported in Guinness book of world records as contested for highest post of highest time and lost for highest 7 election petition in Supreme Court of India decided by 35 Judges of Supreme Court in Election Matter.
The Presidential Election Law was amended two times in parliament and Supreme Court Rules have been amended 3 times due to the above Presidential Election Petitions.
Charan Lal Sahu
Mr. Charan Lal Sahu was borne at village Kanekera-Mahasamund, Distt. Raipur in old C.P. and Berar Central Province with a capital at Nagpur on 15th March 1935 in the family of a middle class. Farmer Father Motilal Sahu. He was educated at village and Mahasamund Rashtriya Vidhyalay and Durga College Raipur under Sagar University. As Law Graduate he started his practice on 1st July, 1959 at Raipur in Taxation Laws. He was enrolled as advocate in 1964 and he became Advocate on Record in 1974 in Supreme Cowl. He appeared in Misa case during Emergency and Bhopal Gas Tragedy case.
His life was very much influenced by the visits of Congress President Pattabhi Sitaramyya and U.N. Debar whom he garland Sut Mala as a leader of Metric Class students. He has the greatest opportunity to garland Sut Mala in March 1954 when the President of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad visited Rashtriya Vidhyalay along with Governor Pattabhi Sita Ramyya and Chief Minister Ravi Shankar Shukla
He passed his Metric class in 1954, but due to poverty he was not in a position to prosecute his college studies. He wrote in 1/4th piece of paper a letter to Dr Rajendra Prasad, the President of India for scholarship. Dr. Rajendra Prasad wrote to the Governor of C.P. & Berar for scholarship, which was granted Rs. 200/Per Month thus he was able to complete his college education by knowing the letter his Drawing Teacher Ganesh Ram Misra paid his college admission fee as Rs. 35/-.
Mr. Sahu as a Congress Seva Dal worker worked for congress candidates Nand Kumar Dani, Mahant Laxmi Narsayan Das and Hari Singh Darbar who was a Lok Sabha candidate at Raipur Parliament Constituency. Mr Sahu was posted by the side of stage where Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru was to address the gathering. Pt Nehru blessed the young worker Charan for bright future in life because of his bright smiling face.
Mr. Sahu faught M.L.A. & M.P. seats at Raipur, but the election of V.V. Giri made him to challenge his Presidential election in the Supreme Court of India from July 1969 till date he is a member of Supreme Court Bar Association, Thus he has completed 50 years practice at the Bar when the Chief Justice of India Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Law Minister Dr. Veer Appa Mouli felicitated him at Bar along with Union Ministers on 4th December. 2009.
Mr. Sahu is a Legal, political and Social worker with spirit to fight against corruption and police atrocities for poor. He has a happy married life with 2 sons and 1 daughter, who are also Supreme Court Advocates. May God bless him long life in the Service of humanity.
