The first story, “An Obligation Called Marriage” is a story dealing with domestic issues. The protagonist of the story is a career-oriented young lecturer, who is pressured by her family and society to marry. When she marries, she had to compromise with her career.
The second story, “And Life Goes On…” is an emotional story, about the loss of a dear one’s from this world and the vacuum they create in one’s life. The third story, “Music, the Soul of Life” is about a singer’s struggle as a refugee in his neighbouring country after the civil war broke out in his native country. The fourth story, "“Virtual Versus Real World” is about the changing attitude of the current generation towards their family. How they are neglecting their families and keeping themselves busy with electronic gadgets like mobiles, laptops and computers.
The last story, “The Teacher is Like a Candle” is also an emotional story dealing with the sensitive issue of love, respect and brotherhood in the society. All these stories are dealing with different issues but are of vital importance in our lives.
Shamenaz
Dr. Shamenaz is the Author, Co-author, Editor and Translator of 28 international books which includes short stories collections, poetry anthologies, literary articles & travelogues. Being a prolific writer, she holds a D. Phil. in English Literature from University of Allahabadi. She is currently teaching in Rajarshi Tandon Mahila Mahavidhyalaya, Allahabad. She is an orator and has delieved lectures in many Colleges in India and abroad online and offline. She is the Founder & President of Progressive Literary & Cultural Society (India).
