Notion Press’ Latest Book Unveils the True Media Behind the Mask

A pillar is important for the foundation of any building. Likewise, the building of democracy is upheld by three pillars—Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. However, there’s a fourth pillar that keeps a tab on the functioning of the government—the media. The Vulture’s Feast published by Notion Press, India’s largest self-publishing firm, is a story about the storytellers, i.e., the media persons, giving us an insight into the hidden side of the industry and what lurks behind the screens.Being trolled behind their backs as ‘presstitutes’, reality hits Shailesh hard when Alisha, a commercial sex worker, calls him a bigger dhandhebaaj. Shailesh, an investigative journalist, resolves to bring to light the shady and dark side of the industry, to set right the wrongdoings. This exposure leads to a compilation of stories, which not just shatters the image of the media, but the whole universe surrounding it.

He’s also worked with the India Today magazine, Dainik Bhaskar and Hindustan Times. A corporate communications professional, an avid traveller, a theatre artist and a motivational speaker, his first book The Royal Blue chronicles the life of the last queen of Marwar, and his second book Durg Gaatha has been adapted for a Mega Light & Sound Show.

Sharing her experience while writing the book, Author Roshni Rajaram said that media is still the only pillar of democracy that is ready to retrospect and to be tested by the people. “The book is a compilation of stories around today’s media universe. It brings out the reason why people criticize media on social media platforms. When a reporter decides to expose his universe, the result comes out as a compilation of stories. They bring out the grey areas of the media world and also of the universe around it,” she said.

“The impact of written and spoken words is far greater today when we are attaining the peak of digital communication. Journalists claim to expose the inside story of every pillar of the democracy. But, what happens when a journalist decides to expose the universe around him! What happens when chapters of a reporter’s diary get converted into fictional stories! This book presents interesting stories of the ‘storytellers’,” said Ayodhya Prasad, the co-author of the book.

The book is available in its print and electronic version on notionpress.com or other leading e-commerce websites like Amazon and Flipkart
