When Heaven meets Earth Banner

Notion Press’ Latest illuminates the path to a healthy married life

Typically, getting married means making permanent room in your heart for your spouse, and committing to love, support, nurture, and defend your partner through thick and thin, for better and for worse, for the rest of your life. However, this is easier said than done. Notion Press, India’s leading self-publishing platform, presents When Heaven Meets Earth by Dr Swarna Singhal.

Marriage is not always bliss. With problems and misunderstandings consistently cropping up, challenging these bonds, how can one keep the love burning? Have you ever wondered about the driving forces behind your marriage and interpersonal relationships? Have you always craved for a lasting, deep, and profound connection with your better half, and to further enrich your marriage? If so, When Heaven Meets Earth by Dr Swarna Singhal is the answer to your concerns. Dr Singhal explores the necessity of and the skills for a well-functioning and lasting partnership through the seven Hindu marriage vows. She offers this marital wisdom through her vast experience in counselling, which spans over 35 years. She has also held several presentations in India and the United States on marriage and interpersonal relationships.

When Heaven Meets Earth establishes the idea that above anything else, the success of marriage rests on the foundation of trust, mutual respect, loyalty, a sense of responsibility, commitment, and, above all, true friendship between two human beings bound by matrimony. This book is not to be read as a guidebook to making a marriage last. Rather, it urges you to reflect on lived life and felt love, as a reminder of the importance of cultivating a deeper, more meaningful connection with your soulmate. Dr Singhal reminds us about why we have chosen the ones we love, and that we once promised to hold onto them no matter.

However, what sets When Heaven Meets Earth takes an in-depth look at the seven vows integral to a Hindu marriage. These weddings are comprised of several rituals and the seven vows. Dr Singhal offers practical advice that is both inspired by these vows and pulled her own experiences. She addresses the difficulties as well as the rewards of staying mentally and physically strong together, being truthful and prosperous alongside our partners, maintaining trust and spirituality, providing joy and comfort for our spouses and children, and rekindling any sparks that may have gone missing through the years. The core values that the book focuses on are commitment, acceptance, respect, and love, and what it means each of us. The core values of the book are commitment, acceptance, respect, and love, and what these terms mean to you.

Born and raised in Calcutta and Bombay, When Heaven Meets Earth author Dr Swarna Singhal immigrated to the United States in 1967 to marry her husband, Inder Raj Singhal. She treasured 47 years of togetherness with her beloved until his passing in 2014. A proud mother of three accomplished daughters, a grandmother to four precocious grandchildren, and an avid gardener and cook, she constantly aims to maintain the balance between her personal and professional lives. She has also contributed a chapter to a book on South-Asian immigrants and has presented on stress, grief, attachment theory, life, and death as described in the ancient

Vedic scriptures. Dr Singhal taught for 16 years before receiving her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. Ever since then, she has practised as a psychotherapist, a guidance counsellor, and a life coach. She is particularly passionate about helping couples through marital issues, and her clients were a major source of inspiration for this book. Dr Singhal’s next project is a memoir in the loving memory of her husband.

Singhal argues, as the Quran suggests, that marriage has a much deeper and more spiritual meaning than we often give it credit for. She urges couples to reflect on what their marriages mean to them and how they can make their partnerships more meaningful. But this book isn’t only for those partnered; the seven vows serve as a roadmap for anyone, including those who are single by choice or by circumstance, looking to improve their sense of self-worth and self-love.

Ultimately, When Heaven Meets Earth makes the case that the value of the seven Hindu vows are universal and relevant even in the 21st century and even in the Western world, arguing that a meaningful marriage is founded on the ideals of mutual respect, commitment, trust, and the union of two souls.
