Dr. V. Sandhya Rani is a catholic professional social worker, who has been working in close contact with the poor for the past eighteen years. Her focus is to empower the poor women through capacity building programs. She personally visited short shelter homes of destitute women of Andhra Pradesh and collected valuable data to pen this present research work. All her life she has been working with commitment to enable the poor women realize gender equality and gender equity. The readers of this rare research work would certainly benefit from her research approach, deliberations of the discussions and implementable recommendations for the Government organizations and N.G.O.s who are taking care of the Short Stay Shelter homes for the destitute women in distress.
