Sufism originated from the Prophet of Islam when he initiated a few chosen disciples into the mystic path. Prominent among them was a group known as ‘Ahle Sufa’, the people of the verandah, who used to dwell in the mosque of the Prophet in Medina. They did not participate in the holy wars, but used to spend their time in contemplation and meditation, and the Prophet did not ask them to come for Jihad. They were equally respected for their piety and spiritual stature. Caliph Abu Bakr and Caliph Ali were the main spiritual heirs of the Prophet. Most of the Sufi Orders originate from them.

M G Umar was born in 1946 at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh in a family of Sufi Mystics. He got his degree in Electronics Engineering from Andhra University. He worked in different organizations.
