Moreover, it goes on to offer invaluable insight on how to control stress, reduce stress, fear, and anxiety, solve problems that trigger stress, manage stress and thoughts, and finally, how to de-stress.
Stress Simplified is inspired by Positive Psychology; a popular program that can be found in world-renowned universities such as Harvard, Stanford, and Yale. With this book, find yourself on a stressless path to increased happiness, positivity, productivity, and creativity.
Author Guruprasad Shetty, fondly known as Guru, has been exposed to stress for more than 35 years. He was a senior manager in some of the top companies in India, and later became an entrepreneur with a venture in specialized printing, garment manufacturing, retail trade, and hospitality.
After suffering a massive setback in one of his large ventures, he experienced chronic anxiety and stress that was creating a serious imbalance in his health. The traditional practice of dealing with stress was not helping him as the effects were transitory. In fact, Guru found himself stressed again when those thoughts came back. Undoubtedly, there was a need for a more permanent solution.
Guru became interested in the theory and practice of positive psychology. The popularity of this practice in many reputed and pragmatic organizations around the world inspired him to conduct a detailed study, analysis, and experimentation on the subject. Many of the practices he developed gave him lasting benefits. Moreover, Guru shared his practice with many of his close associates who also found them very helpful.
Guru’s message is ‘Stress is a bad habit. Control this bad habit. Cultivate good habits. Be Sensible, Rational, and Intelligent. Be SRI.”
The Covid-19 Pandemic has put a lot of pressure on many people. Fear, anxiety, stress, and depression are increasing in a big way every day. Guru felt that there was a need to reach out to many people as possible, and that is how he decided to write a book that could explain stress in a very simplified way and to suggest some processes and practices that could defuse and reduce stress, fear, and anxiety; to become a calmer person with increased happiness.
Guru taught many to follow positive psychology in order to deal with negative situations, and therefore, earned the nickname “Guru” which translates to “teacher”.
