Pratyusha Kar showed a penchant for literature and art since childhood and displayed an early talent for poetry. Part of an intellectual, middle-class, Bengali family, she is encouraged by her parents to pursue her interests in poetry and drama. She is a good elocutionist. She is also thoroughly immersed in working as a children’s right activist. Travelling is her passion and she has been to different parts of India. The poets, such as Tagore, Keats, Wordsworth, Shelly, Byron, Owen and Sassoon are her major influences. These interests and influences provided the blueprints for most of her work. An excellent student, Pratyusha is now studying law in the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata.
