I’m sorry that you got walked over

And I’m sorry that’s it’s true

That now when you try to run again,

You won’t be able to.

I’m sorry that you realised that broken hearts and shattered glass

Don’t just live in your nightmares

But in this very class.

I’m sorry that you gave out your heart and that he walked over,

I’m sorry that you’re still waiting

For all the pain to get over.

I’m sorry that you hoped that everything would be okay,

I’m sorry that you held on to the last straw up until the last day.

I’m sorry for your dreams, for your kisses, for your sleep,

I’m sorry that now the pillow that once comforted you is now filled with tears to keep.

I’m sorry that you saw the darkness that lures in people’s throats

And I’m sorry that you hold it to be true,

Verse after verse.

I’m sorry for the ones after him who you’ll be scarred for

Cause now you know how it feels to get hurt,

What it feels to cry now.

I’m sorry that you’ll be so scared to fall in love, that you’ll give up on the idea all together.

I’m sorry that you won’t be able to meet the eyes of another.

I’m sorry for this day when nothing feels alright

But I’m telling you, one day,

I won’t be sorry for sunlight.
