Ruminations is a collection of poems that were all written in 2021. Covid-19 was ravaging the world and most of us were stuck at home. The first poem, “Sweetheart”, was written on my wedding anniversary. Typically, I go to our backyard to make a rose bouquet for my wife. This year, there were no roses in the garden. Fearing how my wife would react prompted me to write this poem. I shared the poem with my siblings who were all taken aback that I could write poetry. They encouraged me to write more. And my journey in verse began.
I cannot say I am a poet but I did discover that I was able to take everyday life situations and put them in verse. Hence the title “Ruminations, Flashes of Thoughts, Sentiments and Emotions”. I then shared with other family members and friends and the reaction was encouraging. I also started blogging. I now have written just under 300 poems in 2021. Not sure if this will be a lifelong passion or not. Time will tell. But I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
Ajit Deora
Ajit Deora is the fifth of seven siblings born into the Deora family of Bagri, Rajasthan, India. He was not studious growing up but thanks to a strict father who disciplined him into studying, he graduated from IIT, Madras. He later got a scholarship to study in the US. His motivation to come to the US was to be in a position to help his family back home. With hard work and luck, he was successful enough to meet this desire. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is now happily retired and focuses his efforts on taking care of his health and fitness. He is very proud of his two sons and daughter-in-law and is happily married and lives with his wife in California.
